The Newar community in Nepal has a rich cultural heritage, with music playing a central role. They have a diverse array of musical instruments (Wadhya Wadhan), traditional dance forms (Nritya), and a unique musical genre known as Dafa.Project Baja is actively involved in the live documentation of Dafa, capturing it through audio and video recordings. Additionally, the project is engaged in composing new Dafa music while conducting research into this specific genre. This initiative is a significant effort to preserve and promote the musical traditions of the Newar community.
